How to convince an investor?
What does an investor want to see on the first page?
At Kapitałowy Horyzont we talk every day with people who have money to invest. We often hear that the Wrocław market is difficult. That's not true. Investors are looking for concrete facts, not nice words. The first thing they look at is your money-making model. If you can't explain in two sentences how the company will make a profit, no one will lay out a penny.
Show your numbers, not just dreams
Don't draw charts that grow to the sky without coverage in facts. Investors prefer to see real costs and income. If you are just starting, show us your excel calculations. You must know how much it costs to acquire one customer. At Kapitałowy Horyzont we check this first, before we go with you to someone bigger.
Your experience matters
People invest in people. They want to know if you will be able to deliver the topic when problems appear. If you have successes or even wise failures behind you – talk about it openly. It shows that you are standing firmly on the ground.
List of things to prepare before the meeting:
- Short presentation: maximum 10 slides.
- Clearly defined amount you need and what you will spend it on.
- List of your current customers or proof that the market wants your product.
- Exit plan for the partner.
Remember that every business is a risk. An investor wants to know that you are aware of the threats lurking in your industry. Don't avoid difficult questions about competition. If you say that you have no competition, the investor will assume that you haven't checked the market.
If you feel that your business plan needs more polishing, drop by our office on Swobodna Street. We'll go through it together so that you don't waste time on meetings that won't yield results.
